Hard to believe it was just one year ago that this big floof came into my life. And it’s hard to believe it has only been one year!
I spent this past year teaching Olaf all kinds of things from swimming to drowning (long story 🤦♀️), to car rides and road trips, to basic obedience and even his first time in the show ring. And we loved every minute of our time together.
Here are some highlights from his first year! Bare in mind, these are all phone photos and some are kind of terrible. Sorry!
This is baby Olaf! He was just shy of three weeks old in this picture. At the time, he was just another puppy. One we were keeping, but he wasn’t anyone special to me yet. Little did I know that all the time I spent with him as a young puppy would bond us together.
Look at the size of his baby feet and muzzle 😍🐾
Olaf continued to grow and turned into a glue baby with a milk moustache when he started his puppy food mush mix.
One of my favorite puppy photos of little O. Running towards me like a maniac.
Baby Olaf loved to follow his mom, Bounce, around. She would almost always have a treat or rawhide and he would always want it from her.
Then came his leash training days. He wasn’t a fan. I discovered that he didn’t like crossing the driveway near the cars on the leash. Any other time, he would be just fine on the leash. Mostly.
Next up was learning how to ride in cars. He was a stubborn one to teach car rides to. I would put delicious smelling teats on the back edge of the car and he wouldn’t even come near them!
As a reward for getting into the car, we would go swimming. I have never seen a dog love swimming as much as Olaf does!
He’s really good at it too! That is, until I taught him his back feet could touch the bottom. Then he was drowning all the time. It took a lot of teaching to teach to poor dude how to swim again. In the meantime, he thought the way to safety and to not drown was to climb on top of me.
We went to our first dog show together too! It has been forever since I actually showed a dog and truth be told, I never practiced with Olaf before going in the ring and he nailed it perfectly! A few things were a bit off since, but that could easily of been passed off as he’s a puppy and it was his very first show.
We won our class too and got our first blue ribbon! Disclaimer: We were the only ones in our class.
We also tumbled and rough housed in the yard. A lot.
He thought he won in this picture as he sat on top of me.
Here’s to many more years of this loveable, dopey floof. Life wouldn’t be quite the same without you!
